About Regional Affiliation

Overview

Affiliation between Youth Science Canada and a regional STEM fair organization establishes a formal association between the organizations and provides several benefits:
  1. Voting Rights: Affiliation includes an annual membership in Youth Science Canada. Members are entitled to vote at Youth Science Canada's Annual General Meeting (held in December) and Special General Meeting (held in May). They can also nominate or run for election to the Board of Directors.
  2. Communication & Support: Regions receive various communications & support from Youth Science Canada throughout the year. Additionally, regions are invited to join the YSC-hosted Regional Community - an online community of organizers across Canada who are involved in the running of regional STEM fairs.
  3. Participation in CWSF: Affiliation with Youth Science Canada entitles the region to send finalists to the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF).

The affiliation fee, together with checking the Affiliation Agreement acknowledgement checkbox in the YSC Portal , affiliates the regional STEM fair organization with Youth Science Canada and entitles the region to send finalists to the CWSF. The affiliation fee is based on the region's grade 7-12 population, which also determines the maximum number of CWSF finalists.
