Affiliation - FAQs

  1. Does the Canada-Wide Science Fair participant fee include the affiliation or membership fees?
    1. No - the membership fee and affiliation fee (different per region) are separate from the per-participant CWSF fee
  2. Is the $150 deposit in addition to the Canada-Wide Science Fair participant fee?
    1. The $150 deposit is per participant, and is included within the total CWSF participant fee. The deposit, per student, is due at the same time (December each year) as your membership fee, affiliation fee and insurance fee (if relevant)
  3. What information do I need to complete during affiliation to generate my first invoice?
    1. There are some required tabs that need to be completed before the affiliation process is complete and your first invoice can be generated. The required tabs are:

      2. On the Regional Fair page, the following sections are required:
        1. CWSF Participation
        2. Awards
  4. Do I have to send YSC a signed Affiliation Agreement?
    1. Nope! On the Affiliation page of the YSC Portal, under the Affiliation Agreement tab, you are required to check the box agreeing to the Affiliation Agreement. Regardless of whether you send us a signed agreement, this box is required to be selected as it represents your confirmation of agreement.
  5. Does our regional STEM fair have to be open to all students in our geographic area?

    1. Yes. Affiliated regional STEM fairs must be open to all students within the region's designated geographic area, regardless of school, school board, or language of instruction. 6. Does our region need to have an Ethics Committee?

    1. Yes. Youth Science Canada requires all affiliated regional STEM fairs to have an Ethics Committee. Guidelines for Ethics Committees are available in the YSC Policy Portal.
