Creating a Regional STEM Fair Event
Overview
To begin, log in to the YSC Portal, and under the current year page, click Regional Fair. This section is where you complete all information relevant to your regional STEM fair for the current year. Under the Portal/ProjectBoard tab, identify that you are using the YSC Portal by selecting the checkbox and click Submit. A new section on the page will appear asking you to create a new event. - If there is a past event - create an event by duplicating a past event
- If no events are listed - create a new event from scratch
Unlike in Portal 1.0, only regions who are using the YSC Portal to run their regional STEM fair are required to create an event.
Creating an event by duplicating a past event
Navigate to Assets, then Events Manager, where you will see a table of all past events that have been run on the YSC Portal. Select the prior year event you wish to copy using the checkbox at the left and then select Duplicate Event from the Select Action menu. Click the blue action arrow to the right of the menu and select any items you want copied from the previous year (awards, award prizes, sponsors, surveys etc.).
If you don't see any prior events, there is a dropdown you can access by clicking the filter icon and then selecting last year - you're likely seeing the current year which doesn't have an event yet OR you haven't run any prior events using the YSC Portal so there aren't any to show.
After duplicating the event, still within the Event Manager, scroll across on the duplicated event and click the pencil icon to edit your event. It's important to update your event dates on this duplicated event as it will still have the dates from the original event.
Duplicating the previous event saves you from having to re-enter these each year.
Creating a new event from scratch
Click the Create Event button and follow the prompts.
