Creating Your Account and Logging In

Overview

To access the YSC Portal, you'll need to create an account and log in with your credentials. This article explains how to set up your account as a regional coordinator and access the portal to manage your regional STEM fair.

Creating Your Account

As a regional coordinator, your account will be created by Youth Science Canada. Here's what happens:

  1. Request Access: If you are a regional STEM fair coordinator and need to request access to the YSC Portal, please email us at support@youthscience.ca with your name and regional STEM fair name.

  2. Email Notification: Look for an email with the subject line "YSC Portal Account Creation" from the YSC system. This email contains your temporary password and login instructions.

  3. Initial Login: Follow the link provided in the email to access the portal for the first time. You'll be prompted to change your temporary password to a permanent one of your choice.

  4. Password Requirements: Your new password must meet the following criteria:

    • Minimum 8 characters in length
    • Include at least one uppercase letter
    • Include at least one lowercase letter
    • Include at least one number
    • Include at least one special character (e.g., !@#$%^&*)
  5. Profile Setup: After setting your password, you'll be asked to complete your profile information. This includes confirming your name, contact details, and preferred language.

Adding Additional Regional Coordinators

If your regional fair has multiple coordinators who need access to the YSC Portal:

  1. Contact Youth Science Canada at support@youthscience.ca with the following information:

    • Your regional fair name
    • The name of the additional coordinator(s)
    • Their email address(es)
    • Their role(s) in your regional fair organization
  2. YSC will create accounts for these additional coordinators, who will receive their own email with login credentials.

Logging In to the YSC Portal

Once your account is set up, you can log in at any time by following these steps:

  1. Go to the YSC Portal at portal.youthscience.ca

  2. Enter your email address in the "Email" field

  3. Enter your password in the "Password" field

  4. Click the "Log In" button

Forgot Your Password?

If you forget your password, you can easily reset it:

  1. On the login page, click the "Forgot Password?" link below the login button

  2. Enter the email address associated with your account

  3. Click "Reset Password"

  4. Check your email for a password reset link (be sure to check your spam or junk folder if you don't see it)

  5. Follow the link to create a new password

Managing Your Account

After logging in, you can update your profile information at any time:

  1. Click on "My Profile" in the left navigation menu

  2. Update your information as needed

  3. Click "Save Changes" to confirm your updates

Security Recommendations

To keep your YSC Portal account secure:

  • Use a unique password that you don't use for other websites
  • Never share your login credentials with others
  • Log out when you're finished using the portal, especially on shared computers
  • If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, change your password immediately and contact YSC
