Can I Enter My Project in Multiple Regional STEM Fairs?

Understanding the Rules for Multiple Regional Fair Participation

You may be wondering if you can enter your STEM project in more than one regional fair. Here's what you need to know:

Official Policy

According to Youth Science Canada's policy:

Quote
A student or pair of students, where eligible, may enter a project in multiple affiliated Regional STEM Fairs in one year, but must immediately disclose their participation in all other fairs to each region. The project shall be eligible for CWSF selection only in the first RSF in which it is judged.

What This Means for You

  • Yes, you can participate in multiple regional fairs if you meet the eligibility requirements for each fair
  • However, your project is only eligible for CWSF selection at the first regional fair where it is judged
  • You must tell each fair organizer that you are participating in multiple fairs
  • If you don't disclose your participation in multiple fairs, you may be disqualified

Important Things to Consider

  • Be honest with all regional fair organizers about your participation in multiple fairs
  • Understand that you can only be selected for CWSF from the first fair where your project is judged
  • Think about whether participating in multiple fairs is the best use of your time and resources
  • Remember that regional fairs are primarily intended to serve students from their specific region

Example Scenario

Scenario: You live in one city but attend school in another city. Both cities have their own regional fairs and you want to participate in both.

What you should do:

  1. Register for both regional fairs
  2. Immediately inform both fair committees about your participation in both fairs
  3. If the first fair is held on March 15 and the second on April 2, you can only be selected for CWSF from the March 15 fair
  4. You can still participate in the April 2 fair, but will not be considered for CWSF selection
